Publié le 31 Juillet 2007 par Hellric dans Cthulhu

4 days ago, I announced you the  coming of wave 2 of the Nightmares of Lovecraft serie from SOTA Toys, with a new Deep and some concepts about what looked like a new Cthulhu... And now the Great Old Ones heard my prayers and a new Cthulhu figure is coming !!! These pictures are fro mSan Diego Comicon, from www.figures.com webzine.

Compared to the serie 1 Cthulhu, this one is more classical and humanoid, like the one from Horrorclix.

Fulgrim, Emperor's Children Primarch, Prince of Pleasure

Publié le 30 Juillet 2007 par Hellric dans Chaos & Demons

As you may know if you are used to this blog, I've already done conversions of two Daemon Primarchs, Magnus of the Thousand Sons and Angron from the World Eaters. Next one I wanted was Fulgrim, but after many thoughts, I didn't find suitable parts to do him properly (I had already two other versions of him), so I had the idea to ask a professionnal sculptor to do it for me. Browsing Coolminiornot.com, my eyes was caught by the works of Grytz, and it became rapidly evident that he was the right guy to do it.
So I asked him if he wanted to do the project, and he immediately agreed. We had a permanent and excellent contact, sometimes 2-3 times per day, Grytz really listened to my needs and understood them perfectly. I wanted to start from the artwork in Horus Heresy Vol. 4 and adding more things like tubes, spikes, a whip and faces of captured souls like on Lucius the Eternal, one scissor-like weapon (inspired from Alchemists of Dirz in Confrontation), a daemonette-like claw on the tail, etc... The model had to look like an ancient Space Marine, majestic, refined but daemonic, deeply evil, and you can find all of this on the miniature.

And Grytz did make it 100 % like I wanted it, honestly I didn't expect such a beautiful work. It's really professionnal, better detailed than  99 % of GW products. I want to thank Grytz for his dedication in doing his best to satisfy a truly exigent customer as I... Kudos man !!!

Finally the model arrived safely today and it's even more beautiful than on the pictures. Wings are from the Heresy Winged Fallen II. The miniature is 7 cm tall to the top of horns, with a wingspan of 11 cm.
You can watch the work of Grytz and contact him here : www.grytzminis.com

The hardest part now begins for me, as I have to paint it the best I can to do him justice...

Now, look at THIS :

SOTA, Nightmares of Lovecraft - Deep One

Publié le 27 Juillet 2007 par Hellric dans Cthulhu

SOTA Toys, who already made the amazing Cthulhu and Dagon, dwells further in the Mythos and brings us the Deep One from the "Shadow over Innsmouth". I think it look great, ut don't be too excited, you won't be able to buy it before one or two years if the history repeats itself, like that was the case for first wave of Nightmares of Lovecraft action figures.

There was also a concept of what look like another Cthulhu, but I found  no explanation yet. I'll keep you posted about this.

New digital camera ! Fuji Finepix S5700

Publié le 11 Juillet 2007 par Hellric dans Hellric

Hi, today I've got my new camera, a Finepix S5700 from Fujifilm.
I've tried it on my latest miniature, Magnus the Red. I played a bit with Paint Shop Pro and also got a 2 lamps setup (mix halogen/fluorescent) to give better lighting. So here is a new shot :

Now I can even zoom to give you more detail too :

Ain't it better like this ?

SAE Zwarth garage kit (Aura Battler Dunbine)

Publié le 9 Juillet 2007 par Hellric dans Mech & robots

Hi people, I've started a new project : I've found on Yahoo Japan an Aura Battler Zwarth resin kit from SAE. I'll convert it to look like the Zwauth version from Dunbine OVA (which I already own 2 versions : Megahouse limited edition and 1/72 garage kit from Hobbyfan). I have to say this is an original kit and not a recast : quality is much better, detail are very good and part fit together really well. So I'll add bat wings instead of insect wings and a big tail from an old alien toy, with Green Stuff (kneadatite) sculpt. This figure is 15 cm tall to the top of head and 22 cm to the top of reactors.

You can find other pictures here and there . Now I've some work to do, painting this baby won't be done in a week.
