Mech & robots

Dimanche 6 septembre 2009
After a quiet holiday period, time to present a new addition to my robot collection : my first step into the Macross world.
After long hesitations, my choice was the RVF-25 Messiah Luca Custom from Bandai.
I found the Yamato ones not detailed enough so I choose Bandai. I looked after the VF-25S but it was definitely too blocky, I wanted this RVF-25 not because of his discutable green colour, but because of the extra armor parts, the antenna blades AND the radar dome + different head from other VF-25's.
So as usual, I asked my Japanese friend to grab it at a very good price on Yahoo Japan.
I'm very happy of this model, paints and detail are great (not so great as Fewture's though). The diecast content is not so big but placed in useful places, I mean in articulations, so it feels solid and stable. It's very elegant, and so has a great shelf presence, I think I made a good choice.
As accessories there are usual hands open, straigth and closed, additionnal armor parts (grey ones on pics) and a gatling gun.
With his height of 24 cm, it's the same size as others favourites of mine, I mean the Great Mazinger from Fewture and the Genesic Gaogaigar from Max Factory.

It also transforms in plane (Fighter) and in a mix of robot and plane (Gerwalk), but my favourite is the robot (Battroid).

And we go on with the latest addition to my virtual gallery of mechas and robots, with  the stocky "Gekishin" F-4J from the A3 serie by Volks. This one in in the colours of Japanese army.
Finish is now perfect as on the latest models from the serie, and this is the more stable figure from the line.
It come in a nice, premium package, with the usual sword-and-machinegun equipment.
Sold in Japan only for 6800 yen.
Size : 16 cm
Materials : PVC/ABS

My robot collection is slowly but surely growing, especially the A3 serie from Volks.
I'm happy to show you the next in line : the YF-23 "Black Widow", inspired by the USAF prototype air superiority fighter for his stealthy triangular design.
A good thing about this serie is that the quality is still improving, the paint in matte grey (radar absorbing material ?), titane and glowing green are perfect, joints are strong, balance is easier to find than on previous models. This model comes with full pack of accessories : sword, machinegun, knife and various hands and weapon mounts.

Additional views : back, front.

And we go on with another PVC figure from VOLKS' successful (in Japan at least) A3 series. This time it's from Linebarrel of Iron anime, no more MUV-LUV.
It's as usual a quality release from Volks, a 14 cm figure in PVC with crisp paint.
As accessories, you only get 2empty hands and hands bearing the katanas.

At the moment the serie counts 4 models, all are the same mecha, with wings deployed or not, and with various paint schemes. So only 1 of them for me was enough, as I don't need to collect everything.
I like the design of this Linebarrel, because it's a bit different and unusual with the lack of "feet", it certainly has a strong visual identity.

Let's zoom a bit...

Hello my friends,

I want to apologize for the lack of updates, I wasn't very active in the collecting last months, but I have to show you this new baby of the very interesting A3 serie from Volks. It's #19 of the collection, but I don't get them all, not willing to pay 4-5 times 6800 yens to get same models of different colours...
Anyway, here are the pics of the mecha, very inspired by the US Air Force F-22A Raptor, with sharp edges and triangles to avoid radar reflections.
As the same figures of the serie, it's 16 cm high, contains only PVC/ABS, is nicely painted and comes with a few accessories : 2 guns, 2 empty hands and rear weapon supports.
