Two weeks ago, I made some cleaning and sorting in my office, and I found tons of unused and forgotten miniatures parts, among them a lot of tyranids, and a particular one attracted my attention : a Malanthrope from Forge World.
Nice body full of tentacles, but nearly no limbs, looking too "kind" to my taste, so I had the idea of making a Tyrant from this body. I used a head plate from a Zoanthrope so the creature has a proper Tyrant head, made it more gribbly by adding small Zoathrope arms as mandibles.
I had the "walking" legs from my flyrant left, and these were the perfect size, but I had to find a suitable pose to use them, so I rotated the torso with the tail to the front instead of the tail to the bottom.
Next I found some Reaper Bones wings of the good size, just added the Malanthrope hands on top of them so they look more Niddy.
As the tail points to the front, I added the end of the tyrant's tail, so it looks more aggressive and more like a Tyrant.
And last but not least, I needed 2 claw arms, those of an old lector were perfect, so that's it !
Let's call this a "Tyranthrope" since the insane Hive Queens of Hivefleet Cthulhu had the idea to mix Malanthrope and Tyrant DNA !
The model was painted quickly in 2 weeks, so no WIP this time, just the finished creature. I'm very happy of it, it looks coherent, with my little "Cthulhu" touch, and with a nice pose, as if he was cornered by powerful foe but well decided to counter-attack... Enjoy !
