Figone Cthulhu kit, by Allan Carrasco

Publié le 18 Mars 2017 par Hellric dans Cthulhu, Miniatures news

Just a quick one to share a find : famous French painter Jeremie Bonamant-Teboul has released a very cool Cthulhu resin miniature (68 mm high) for his miniature company "Figone", sculpted by the artist-sculptor extraordinaire Allan Carrasco.

I ordered immediately this one, not only because i'm an addictive collector of all Great Old One related stuff, but because his take on it is very strange and disturbing : it's unusual to have 4 arms and a weapon, the head is full of randomly placed eyes, yet the pose of the hands is very "human" like, it has a bulbous back. Though I won't manage to paint it 1/10th as well as Jérémie did, I can't wait to throw some paint on it !

German Games Day 2009 (Köln)

Publié le 20 Août 2009 par Hellric dans Miniatures news

Hey folks,
I'm back from the beautiful city of Köln, where I attended the Games Workshop Games Day 2009.
It was my first Games Day, so I'll share with you the pictures of this event here. I met a few members of the Warpshadow community, so hello to Hydra, Terrorfex and the mighty Harald.

Regarding news about the Hobby, it was disappointing, just showing a few 40K Orks and the amazing Chaos Titan from Forgeworld. This amazing sculpt was done by sculptor extraordinaire Simon Egan, and this guy is really cool, we had a small talk with him, very interesting. We learned that Tyranids get their new codex next year, with at least 4 new new creatures and the return of "special characters", for example a surviving creature from the Tyran campaign, etc... Time to save money ;)

The biggest disappointment came from the absence of Space Hulk. Not a word, just a crappy teaser at the end. The game was release the next day, so I can't understand why it was not showed, strange commercial logic. We can say it was a crisis games day, there were no keynotes either.
Finally, the most interesting part was the Golden Demon galleries, so many wonderful entries with amazing technique and inspiration... It was an honor for my Cthulhu Tyrant to stand among them, even if it didn't even come close to the level of the best ones. My fellow Warpshadowers Hydra and Harald managed to grab Golden Demons again, kudos guys, you rock !

Now, I invite you to take a tour in the gallery showing all of these wonderful entries here.

Troll Forged Miniatures - Alien

Publié le 20 Juillet 2008 par Hellric dans Miniatures news

Here's my last miniature of the first batch I've done for Troll Forged Miniatures of my friend Hivetrygon. This is an alien, which could be used as typical "grey" or as some kind of broodlord.  I painted it grey because I wanted a link to the famous "greys" aliens :) Then the ribs in purple because the ribs screamed for another color, and this is also a color evoking genestealers.

If you want to discuss about this and much more, see previews and the huge progress made by Hivetrygon, join us on the Trollforged Forum.

This model is for sale on the Trollforged online store.

I'm currently working on the Cthulhu Tyrant, stay tuned for more cool stuff and updates in the next days.

Monsterpocalypse, new monsters sighted !

Publié le 2 Mai 2008 par Hellric dans Miniatures news

Privateer Press is slowly unveiling models for their upcoming Kaiju table game Monsterpocalypse. This time a new kind of Cthulhu (the same as previous shown but this one has legs), a kind of Cthulhu spawn, and a Tripod from War of the Worlds. This games is more and more appealing to me as it features big robots, giant monsters, aliens, and ... of course, Cthulhu :oE

Warhammer 40K : new daemons are coming

Publié le 11 Mars 2008 par Hellric dans Miniatures news

The highly expected Codex Daemon is to be released in May by Games Workshop. Nearly all the new models have been unveiled @ Games Days, so here's a summary of what to expect:
Here's the Soulgrinder, a new version of the Defiler, a the very good surprise of the bunch :

undefined

It's a plastic kit which comes with mainly Slaanesh and Khorne options.

Then some lesser daemon are redone :

Bloodletters, Daemonettes, Plaguebearers, fleshounds of Khorne, Beasts of Nurgle, Fiends of Slaanesh

We also have a new kind of demon, between Daemon Princes and lesser Daemons, called Daemon Heralds. Here they are :
The Masque of Slaanesh, Epidemius of Nurgle, Skulltaker of Khorne. I don't know you, but I was disappointed with those releases, mainly by the lack of new greater daemons and daemon princes, but also by the designs of the heralds, who are just chaos champions mixed with lesser daemons, quite uninspired. The greater daemons only get new packages ! I don't understand GW's policy of NOT making a plastic daemon prince and/or greater daemons. They would sell a lot of them, as for the Carnifex kit, because it'd be much simpler to convert them, I wonder why GW did choose this low profile attitude when renewing the daemons range. All lesser daemons are cool though, they are quite a step back to the early glory days of Realms of Chaos, I like that. Another reflection is that the minis don't seem so well painted, check the Fleshhounds for example. Other miniatures companies present way better painted minis now...

Cloverfield Monster figure from Hasbro

Publié le 7 Mars 2008 par Hellric dans Miniatures news

After months of suspense, the wait is finally over, the mysterious monster of the successful Cloverfield movie is unveiled. There had been many rumours that it's be Lovecraft related, or that it was even the Great Cthulhu, but no, it's a brand new design. I wouldn't say original, as it's just a big hunched quadruped, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with it.
Anyway, it's a 14 inch figure with 70 articulation points, it roars like in the movie, you have two heads, the Liberty statue head and 10 parasites, so we may say you have for your money as it's sold 99 $ (65 EUR)...

I think I'll wait for a smaller version, as I don't have too much place for this one :)

New miniature maker : Ultraforge

Publié le 24 Février 2008 par Hellric dans Miniatures news

While surfing around, my mouse was caught on a the website of a new maker of nightmare miniatures. This one is called Ultraforge, a small company  based in Canada, and run by a couple of young nice people, Sophia and Jeremy. But the most interesting thing is that they have a rare talent that should appeal to many wargamers and collectors of beautifully crafted fantasy miniatures. The details seem amazing, but also the ideas a great and these minis really seem to have a soul and style.

click here : http://www.ultraforgeminiatures.com and check their dryad/treewoman if you want to see wat i mean with inspiration and style...

Here are some WIP shots of their upcoming demons, that's of course what caught my eyes first :)

There are two demons of pestilence (and plague), one of war (Khorne anyone ?) and one of desire (who said Slaanesh ???). These should come out in a few weeks or months with wings options and maybe alternate heads. They should fit on 50x50 mm bases and tower on tabletops, they are cast in resin, price expected in the 60-80 $ range. Which is quite cheap considered that Ultraforge is more in the scope of Forgeworld than your usual GW.

Now I beg for a Cthulhu, please Sophie ;)
